SPEARFISHING CHARTERS
Spearfishing Tonga was established as a spearfishing charter company in Tonga in 2014 by Robert Torelli. Robert’s aim was to cater for the passionate blue water spearfisherman wanting a guided spearfishing adventure to the Kingdom of Tonga. Robert had formerly been running blue water spearfishing and underwater photography travel for 20 years.
SPORTFISHING CHARTERS
Sportfishing Tonga has a new home base at the Blue Water Retreat on Eua Island. Here we will be running guided sport fishing packages from November 2020 targeting quality species such as dogtooth and yellow fin tuna, wahoo and mahi mahi, sailfish and blue marlin and lots, lots more.
WHALE SWIMS
Spearfishing Tonga can arrange world class whale swimming opportunities from July through to October at their new home base at Eua Island. Eua Island has the clearest water in the Kingdom of Tonga and the friendliest whales. World Freediving Champion Alexey Molchanov visited our home base in 2019 and was blown away with his freediving experience with the humpback whales and has booked to return for two weeks with groups in 2020.
Spearfishing Competition
The Blue Water Retreat and Spearfishing Tonga are very please to announce a new International Blue Water Spearfishing Competition in 2025. This Invitational pairs event is being held in early November and promises to be a sustainable and exciting and challenging event.

ACCOMMODATION
We provide comfortable accommodation at our own waterfront retreat, namely the “Blue Water Retreat”. This is the base of our operations and provides for a pleasant place to relax after a day’s fishing. Our options include Fales (Cabins) and Glamping Tents.

CHEFS & MEALS
Time to eat your fantastic catch. Blue Water Resort has professional chefs who will present your catches to you in traditional and international cooking styles. Learn more about these services on the Meals and Dining page under Accommodation.
ALTERNATIVE ACTIVITIES
As the weather is not always favourable to us, we also provide a range of activities to keep you busy across the island. Our charters often leave a day or two spare to account for weather and offer these activities in the spare time. Read more on the activities pages.

Species Spotlight: Sailfish
‘Eua in particular is a hotspot for Sail and Billfish!
Sailfish grow XXXL in Tonga and average around 40-50 kg. Spearfishing Tonga has a few “hot spots” for sailfish and can assist divers wanting to target a “one off” billfish. Here at these hotspots the sailfish can be found in large schools close to the surface. A strict one billfish per trip policy applies. Tonga currently boasts the IGFA World Record of 95.5 kg for a sailfish (24 kg line fishing class) and our spearfishing clients have landed them to over 50 kg. Our guests have landed the World’s Record for female spearfishing and it is only a matter of time before the Open World Record sailfish is taken in the Kingdom of Tonga.
