Spearfishing with the Blue Water Explorer team in Tonga was the experience of a lifetime. It was everything I expected and more. The variety and size of the fish was extraordinary with dogtooth tuna over 100kg seen. We landed a range of excellent fish including coral trout, dogtooth tuna and giant trevally and also had a couple of sailfish cruise in just out of range. Not only did we land some amazing fish, we also swam with humpback whales, which was an unbelievable experience. The opportunity to dive with 8 whales on a heat run was like going to a rock concert underwater. The extensive spearfishing knowledge of Rob Torelli, combined with the knowledge and expertise of his local crew makes this a trip that should be on every spear-fisherman’s bucket list.
