What skills are required?

Spearfishing Tonga offers a “guided spearfishing charter service”. We have expert spearfishing guides on hand to assist guests to try and reach their goals in a safe manner. Obviously, the more skilled and fit the guests are the better chance of reaching their goals.  Spearfishing Tonga suggests clients to be of reasonable fitness andhave some prior spearfishing experience, especially if you are on a group charter. Being familiar with your own spearfishing equipment, testing it and having the right equipment PRIOR to the charter is a very wise move and will increase your chances of success.

Whilst some species such as Dogtooth tuna are found at moderate depths from 15-30 meters many of the choice blue water species such as monster wahoo and sailfish, mahi mahi and marlin are all found in the first ten meters or less. There is no doubt having a great breath hold and the ability to dive deep will enhance your chances of landing trophy fish. Spearfishing Tonga and their expert guides are used to working with both new comers to blue water spearfishing along with seasoned blue water hunters. We endeavour to customise charters to the hunter’s requirements to help ensure the best results.

If you are new to spearfishing and want a more customised charter to include some coaching and free diving training this is possible as well. Some of our guides are free diving instructors and we can customise a charter to suit.
